new costumes on the way!

irrelevant elephotoExciting new costumes are underway! I’m really looking forward to the creation of 3 new costumes for myself: a UV sexy one, a slinky and elegant hooping one, and a huuuuge stilts venetian mask costume. yess!

I spent a couple of hours with my latest gem discovery of a costumier here in Bristol (Pam Tait) and got thoroughly excited and inspired!

The UV cossie is going to be mostly white, with pale pink, green, and some black. It will be a corsett-style top and tight short trousers with various different material registers, cyber-y affixes, awesome funky lines and lace-ups, bits of skin showing in cool designs…. it’s really hard to describe in words, so I’ll attach an irrelevant photo. (see elephant above)…

The slinky hoop costume is black and velvetty red. Also corsett-style, but less risque! with little sleeves and devoire velvet patterns mmmmmm yummy. Oh yes, and long legging-type trews with matching designs… not like the exposed lady in the pic. She’s pretty though, eh?!

The venetian costume is a giant traditional period costume based on a mask brought back by my folks from Venice :) it is red, cream, gold and black and dreeeeeammmmyyyyy!!

full o gas!

No, I’m not going to write another post about my dodgy digestive system! This is about balloooooooons!! hooray! I love them! I just spent many happy hours making balloon animals and swords and flowers and all sorts for millions and millions of small children :D It was great, they were soooo happy at something as simple as receiving a balloon flower!
I’m sure I will quickly tire of the novelty, but as this is a fairly new skill that I’ve been practicing, I’m just going to revel in the joy of it for a bit.
revelly revelly.

good. time to sleep now :)

Soggy Britain

booooooooooooooooo and hisssssssssssssss!! My absolute favourite festival of the UK circuit, Sunrise Festival was CANCELLED! The ridiculously heavy localised rain simply turned the site into a swamp before anyone even got there! One huge rain cloud just sat over the area, while the rest of the country got off quite lightly… something really didn’t want that festival to happen - much to the misery of thousands of punters and performers set to enjoy a lovely weekend :(

Of course, every situation can be turned around to find some good, and it meant that suddenly Bristol (as the nearest big city) was suddenly filled with lots of friends and revellers all in the mood to party and with unexpected free time on their hands! So the weekend was still enjoyable, I had a fantastic reunion with some old friends, I even got to sleep in warmth and comfort, run off and do a gig, get some work done, and have some time to do things I wouldn’t normally allow myself to spare time for :)
I’m planning the creation of lots of new costumes at the moment - with my sexy new sewing machine! hooray! and have been looking at beautiful things for inspiration - I’ll share some with youbeetlejuice lady.

I’m so happy to sit and create things with material and shiny accessories! The only time I don’t like it so much is when I have a short deadline… so I’m giving myself plenty of time to create :)

masqueradeIts really amazing when I suddenly have freetime - I have so much I love to fill it with - today I practiced my belly dancing, wrote my travel diary, created a gift to send to a friend, planned some choreography, researched costumes and uni-dance assignments… and…. sorted out months worth of dreaded finances - what a load off my mind!

so, really gutted about the loss of a beautiful festival this year, but super happy with the reclaimed time for myself :D
