it’s better with two…
It was almost a month ago now, but I’ve finally had time to write about my sister’s marriage!
I thoroughly enjoy my life as a single woman, all the independence, fun and freedom that goes with it… but if I ever need a reminder as to why an exclusive loving relationship is a good thing, this is one event I will think of!
I had no idea how deeply I was going to feel about the event, but it really affected me! This was my one and only sister going through a hugely momentous and beautiful occasion for her as she committed to spend the rest of her life with the man she so deeply loves. Reading this back in text sounds almost enough to make one vomit!!haha! but truly the love and bond i have with my sister just made me turn to blubber, and yes, I cried as her new husband said their personal vows to her: “…loving everything I know of you, trusting everything I do not yet know and asking that you be only yourself….”
(I could hardly breathe for fear I might bawl the house down!)
but yes, hearting thumping hard in chest throughout I wasn’t the only one who had to dry leaking eyes during the ceremony.
…and then the reception! oh boy, what a great party! beautiful beduin tent decor, yummy food, touching and funny speeches, high spirits and loud racous laughter from all corners of the room, fun panto-style sketch entertainment from my bruv and his fiancee and me, and followed by the craziness on the dancefloor!!
You know who at parties with a dancefloor you usually get people kinda standing around the edges and gingerly wiggling a bit to the music before those few brave souls get up there and get it all going?… well I think our two families are always the providers of those brave souls. The minute there was a hint at some music half the room descended full pelt onto the dancefloor to throw each other about, shake whatever limbs they felt vaguely in control of and laugh and sing along to songs for hours on end! oh but we had fun
