So far my 2008 has been feeling significantly different to my 2007. For one I’m not in Brazil (more’s the pity) but I have also recently found a renewed pleasure in daytime pursuits that have overcome my appetite for nightlife fun… well, to an extent. I sometimes wish I could be up all hours of the day and night and not get tired. That’d be awesome. But I like sleep way too much for that!
So the balance at the moment is very much on hardcore training dance and circus, learning, reading, planning, researching… and less on partying all night, drinking, raving etc… the allure of being awake and lucid and energised the following day for training is just too much, and I end up leaving pubs and parties early, or even not going at all! And just sitting in bed reading about yoga and pilates - I’ll admit it, I even have a copy of Gray’s Anatomy by my bed for that spot of gentle bedtime reading. About veins. fun.
It makes me happy right now. So that’s a good thing.

Well I’m still not sick and the curry is lovely!
If you’re gonna break from tradition, do it in style! No freezing temperatures, no Christmas tree, no family :( (though 6 Chimaera members are a good surrogate family out here), no Christmas crackers, no church (although I did go to some temples!)… but we did have a meal together, tinsel, Christmas cake, watch a rubbishy film on TV and sing carols… well, sort of… one carol… but we changed the words:
We che kings of India are (che = 6 in hindi)
Teen in a rickshaw, teen in a car (teen = 3)
Not in a hurry, eating my curry,
Travelling lands afar…
Also… Rickshaws are fun! They are little 3-wheeler vehicles, (either auto or cycle-powered) rickety, bouncy and pretty much like riding in a sardine-tin. The cycle-rickshaws are brilliant! They are open air and even more bouncy – on our way to dinner on Christmas eve, Steve decided to take the helm and cycled Chanti, me and the Indian driver across town, much to the laughter and delight of the street kids watching him! “Look, the white man driving, the white man! Hahaha!”, to which he simply made honking noises and shouts. Strange and wonderful man!
